I have one of the Ryobi 600psi cordless pressure washers. I don't know it's long term reliability with salt going through it, but I'm flushing it through with fresh water after use.

It can boost either fresh or salt water supply . It can also run off its small hose just dropped off the side or have its pickup dipped in a bucket of fresh water or pre-mixed salt away, boat wash or whatever or run off a 2 litre soda bottle directly attached (but not for long).

It's not a really strong pressure washer, more a higher powered way to rinse things that takes much less effort to set up and move around. But it seems to be working well for that purpose.

Richard, I agree. With the huge fresh water capacity and water maker on board, I think fresh water use is minimal compared to storing chain with salt water on it and having the extra corrosion/rust. I don’t think our salt water wash down has ever been used.

If you only use fresh water to wash off the chain it probably won't use that much, maybe 5 gallons for every chain retrieval.

After a salty run I spray most of the boat off with 10 gallons of Salt Away & fresh water mixture using my Dewalt cordless power sprayer.  I imagine a chain & anchor would take much less water.

Eventually it probably will but it only costs about 150 bucks. I try to run fresh water through it afterward. It appears the first thing I will likely need to replace is the nozzle because of salt crusting / corrosion.

No problems with the salt water and its components?

There are many. I use a two battery model. Word 40v Hydroshot. I think I have had it three years now. I use same batteries for cordless leaf blower too

We do similar to Richard except I attach the seawater wash down hose to a cordless pressure washer which boosts the spray “A LOT”

My sea water washdown pump failed and I replaced it with a Shurflo Pro Blaster II (part no. 4258-163-E09), 24VDC. After 2 years it stopped working due to the membrane in the pressure sensing switch failing allowing seawater into the switch. The company was very good about sending out a free replacement. Now I need to get another pump head on the old one and I'll have a spare.

I works better than the original one. But what I'd really like is a very high flow pump that floods the chain and anchor with a deluge of water. What has worked well though, is to stand on the pulpit with a hose end sprayer and spray a concentrated stream onto the chain through the slot in the pulpit. This keeps the mess from getting on the deck. I have a remote switch to operate the windlass so I can control the chain retrieval with one hand and spray with the other.

Hey Greg:

I understand completely. Several years ago, I replaced the standard wimpy washdown pump with a much larger 7 GPM Jabsco Par Max Ultra. Unfortunately, they no longer make this pump and you can't even get parts for it! We're still getting along with this pump, but I need to find a replacement as well. Let me know what you find!

Looking for some advice, my sea water washdown pump is just not cutting it. I want something with both more volume and pressure. 24 volt preferred.
