Windshield wiper system on a 57
Author Last Post

I though I would circle back to document what I did with my windshield wipers.

I was able to use a borescope to determine the band of my wiper motors was Valeo. Parts aren't easy to come by, so I bit the bullet and installed an Exalto system. The biggest complication was the center distance of the two shafts that exit the boat were different. So I had to fill 3 holes and drill 3 new holes. The Exaltos work well and are fully adjustable to get the best coverage. Hopefully this will be a "one and done" project.

Richard,

Untethered 57-22

On Kinship (4715), 2005 built, we replaced the original arms with the Ongaro Deluxe Pantograph Wiper Arms, these are fairly widely available in the US and the fit the original standard mount. Worked fine with the standard motor and were correct spacing.

Hi Richard:

In the era when your boat was built (I'm guessing around 2005), Exalto wipers were an option. The standard was what you have. That's what my first Selene (my 2004 Selene 50) had, but I honestly don't remember the brand.....

Sorry I can't be more help. It sounds like you're on the right track if you can find the parts.

I saw the AM mark in the arm, but I thought they just made the arm.  A Google search shows AM makes the whole system.  I got 2 of the arms removed with a bearing puller, the third will need more time with the penetrating oil.

The motors look and work fine if I can get the threaded posts cleaned up and new arms put on.

I wish I could replace them with Exalto, but the center distance isn't compatible.

Richard

Hi.
Check the controls - both the switches on the panel and the electrical control box. Mine both have the makers name clearly marked.
I don’t recognise the AM on your wiper arms.
4333 has an Exalto 3 blade / 3 window wiper system from Holland.
Excellent company to deal with.
