Selene 57 grey water tank pump
Author Last Post
Update:

Indeed, there is a Rule 2000 and a Rule-a-matic float switch inside the grey water tank of 57-24. Everything is now renewed and working well.
Thanks for your interest and help.

Good to know.  We'll have to compare notes on our 57s in the Bahamas.  Richard

Hi Richard,

I checked my survey and Bill Gladding's report says the pump is a Rule 2000 and that it's inside the tank. We stopped this am and had a pumped out the gray tank so will take lid off tank as soon as we are at anchor.

Hi Richard,

No luck finding it in those 2 places. The discharge is tagged and exits in that area under the cabinet floor in the forward stairs and then the hose disappears into the bilge. I've looked for access panels in cabinet floors under drawers, under bed, behind master toilet. I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks, Brian.

Brian,
It sounds like your boat has a large gray water tank that is pumped automatically overboard.

My boat does not have a large gray water tank, only two small sumps & pumps that automatically drain overboard when the sensor on the sump turns on the pump.

You MAY find the pump behind the stairs by accessing it from under the floor of the locker halfway up the stairs.  You can also get to this space from behind the toilet in the master bathroom.  That would be my guess where the factory would put it.

Good luck!  Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for this. On 5724 the showers APPEAR to drain directly to our gray water tank which is a solid fibreglass tank just forward of the master bed under one of the hatches in the sole. The hatch is much smaller than the tank and only the tank removeable cover and level sensors are accessible there. The 2nd hatch at foot of bed is where access to the black water hull discharge is.  I'm going to try and follow the sensor wires and see if I find the pump.

Also hope to see you in the Bahamas.

Thanks again,

Brian 5724.

I'm glad you are happy with this system Richard. Our 53 has 'open top' grey water "tanks" with a bilge pump in them. I believe this is a cause of odor. I am about to replace both of those with the same Whale tanks / gulper pumps!

Hi Brian,

We own 57-22, and your boat may be different. But we have 2 small Whale brand gray colored tanks that only hold a few gallons of gray water. There is a Whale "Gulper" pump (diaphram type I think) that is controlled by a level switch on the gray water tank.

The gray water tank and pump for the master head is located under the hatch in the sole just forward of the bed (where the black water discharge through hull is located).

The tank and pump for the guest head is located under the hatch in the sole at the bottom of the stairway.

Both of my pumps are very visible and accessible through the hatch. The system has been one of the few systems that has worked flawlessly since I've owned the boat (I hope I didn't just jinx it!).

I hope to see you in the Bahamas this spring.

Hello all,

I'm trying to locate my grey water tank pump. I've been told that it's near the master shower sump. Can anyone help with how to access that area?

Thanks, Brian.
