Shangri-La, Selene 5388, soon to be for sale
Jack Burgess

Shangri-La, Selene 5388, is soon to be for sale. The vessel has just undergone a three year maintenance and refit program of $150,000 USD plus to make her our “forever” boat. And Then, the folks at Selene Americas and Howard Chen made us an offer we could not refuse and we will be taking delivery of a new Selene Ocean Explorer 60 before long. 5388 will be available for viewing in July and we plan to use her this summer. Widebody, hardtop, twin Cummins 230’s, 3 staterooms, 2 heads, all the bells and whistles. Just add water.

More details are available in the For Sale Forum. Interested parties can contact me at jacktburgess1@gmail.com or cell phone (703) 609-2033

Jack:

Congratulations on the new 60. They are awesome boats....as you know!

I expect to be at the yard late this year, so let me know if I can help in any way.

Thanks Mark.  No one is more excited or surprised than we are.  Having completed the total refit of Shangri-La, and being so excited with her, I thought I was already driving my last ride.  Sort of like learning you are going to be a new father at age 73.
Here we go!  You are visiting the yard also?  Hmmmm, new baby on the way?

Terry and I are going to the yard in July, but that will be the only time.  I may ask you to put eyes on her when you are there if I have questions and the photos and videos from Ian, Dylan and Wayne aren't sufficient.

Best - Jack

Hi Jack:

No.....I still am under the impression that Koinonia (we actually call her "K2" since our first Selene was also a Koinonia) is our "last ride". :-) We LOVE the 60 design!

I am actually helping Chris and Elizabeth Powell with the build of their new 60 Explorer (60-50), so I'll be going over for the sea trial.

I keep kidding Roseanne about building a new boat and putting in a dedicated "craft room" -- she takes over the flybridge on K2 for her crafting. :-)

I should have said "60 Classic" in my last message.

I remember you talking about Roseanne’s crafting and how she did need more space. I have heard others talk about the wistful look in her eyes when you spoke of so enabling her. She could probably pay for the difference in boats if she sold some of the beautiful objects she could create in a dedicated space. Come on Mark, I agree with Roseanne - she needs a bigger boat! (I loved it every time Terry said that!).

We had Roseanne's two high school classmates aboard with us for the last 2 weeks in Glacier Bay and surrounding areas. They "crafted up a storm" on the flybridge.... See attached....

Is that a 3-D printer on the flybridge??!!  Maybe all you need is a bigger workshop in the lazerette.
Shucks, forgot.  You already have that and I am modeling my shop in the lazerette of 6047 on yours, SS workbench and all.

Jack, congratulations on the new 60! How exciting. Good luck on your sale of Shangri-La. The next owner is getting a great boat THAT'S BEEN USED not just sitting at the dock. Or maybe you'll keep both and have a Selene for each hemisphere?

Congrats Jack & Terry!!!

We're so proud of your courage and veracity!!!
