I am all ears also. I announced that Shangri-La, 5388 is for sale on the Owners’ Association site a few weeks ago. She is a completely refitted vessel - literally ready to cross oceans tomorrow. I have had a few nibbles just by word of mouth. Today I listed her on Boat Trader and Boats.com. I have already had one inquiry from that effort. That can be a sketchy process. A broker (supposedly with buyers) is coming for a look next week. Shangri-La will be For Sale at the Selene Rendezvous and Trawlerfest in September (next month). Our new Selene Ocean Explorer 60 will not be delivered until March 2026 at the earliest, so I am not really in a hurry. I don’t want to go too long without a big boat.

So, whatcha’ got?

Jack

Jack Burgess, Shangri-La 5388

Any suggestions welcomed.

We all start out with the best intentions. Sometimes life just gets in the way.

Captain,

Your ship looks fantastic!!!

Sharing a philosophical thought of use it or lose it…

With so many low hours of use on your engine and the ship, in my experience she needs to run like the stormy winds across the globe.

Your ship is a bad ass ocean going vessel and can go anywhere anytime.

Cuz you used her the way you did isn’t necessarily a good thing…in my experience.

May I offer an unsolicited suggestion on how to market her?

Hey Robert.
I saw the boat this past summer in it's usual spot.
I'm warming up to buying another trawler but not sure about the 62's layout.  It's been awhile since I've been on one.  I was at the Roche Rendezvous this spring and spent a couple of weeks with Mark & Roseanne cruising.
If you have details, and a price, I would be interested in taking a look.

After 19 years from new, ARDREEN 6207 is going on the market this fall, and will be on display at the Boats Afloat Show in Seattle in September.

This is a hard decision, but it’s time, and a new owner will be getting a Selene that has been cared for, in part, by two of the Selene Community’s most knowledgeable people, Brian Taylor and Geoff Mills. We have had great use of the boat for 3-4 months a year, although we have not ventured as far as many owners. However, one plus for a new owner is that the main engine has only 1200 hours, virtually unused for a QSM 11. The boat is nearly pristine, and well maintained throughout.

Our journey started when we bought a boat that Howard had built for Dan Fogle, a partner in one of the first and most successful Selene dealerships, Friday Harbor Yachts. Dan had some health issues, and decided to put his brand new, uncommisioned, 62 in the Poulsbo TrawlerFest and we just happened to be there. We were looking for a boat that would be comfortable to live on for months at a time, and it has proved to be the perfect choice. Easy for two to handle, and very spacious.

That started a fruitful 19 year association with Selene Yachts and Howard, from taking over the bankrupt yard doing the commissioning, to Selene Yacht Service to the Selene Dealer for the Pacific NW. It is one thing to sell a yacht, another to actually live your product, and that’s been easy, because Howard’s yachts are simply the best in class.
