SMOG (Selene Motorcycle Owners Gang)

Update on SMOG attire and swag

Our order for attire in the form of shirts, hoodies, Tee’s, fleeces, etc., is in the works. To make it happen, I needed to (and did) buy 19 additional pieces to get to the minimum of 50 pieces required for a five color screen print. I am acquiring an almost equal number of S, M, L, XL and XXL white SS Tee’s to stockpile. If we have new members or any of you want more for yourself, kids, grandkids, biker babes or whatever, I will have a supply. Brian Calvert raises his head from the deep waters of the Philippine Sea from time to time and says he wants stuff, but he gets pulled back down before I can get an order from him. Maybe he will contact me with his order before my China trip.

Attached is a photo of our newest member, Brother Maniacal Michael, my Swiss friend who sailed pretty much the whole dang world, frequently single handedly, on his Moody 54 before selling it last year. He is pictured with his new Suzuki machine in the Swiss Alps last week. He will be back on board with me cruising the Mid-Atlantic and EC frequently, so I hope you all welcome him into the Gang when you meet him. He counts as crew aboard Shangri-La and will ride with us when he can.

PLEASE NOTE - This is the only SMOG attire, except for the patches and hats which are in progress on a separate order, that we can acquire without ordering 50 more pieces. If you want to add to your items, speak now as I can do so if I act fast. Then this order is history!

Anyway, soon you won’t have to ride naked or with some unaffiliated Rock Band Tee shirt on your back - you will be identified by your bespoke SMOG attire.

Order in with the vendor. Couple extra charges and the screen printing is not cheap, but we’re getting exactly what we want. My preemptive response was “pay the lady and we will deal later” so I hope my brothers are OK with that approach. I want gear to deliver to Howard and Arina in time for my trip to the yard.

Anyway, joint and mutual debt obligations will only bring us closer, right?

Johnny Two Times - Gotta LUV that handle! Definitely keep the CEO!

Received your enhanced order and trying to pull it all together now to submit to the vendor today. I want to get shirts for Awesome Arina and Honorable Howard to take to the yard with me in three weeks or so.

Also tryin’ to buy insurance for the new boat - For some reason all the carriers seem to think I am Thor Heyerdahl trying to insure the Kon-Tiki. Latest quote was (GASP!) $32,869. Well, I guess I do swim with sharks and roam the high seas far and wide, so maybe they have something. But I definitely don’t look Norwegian!

Put me down for another XL - LS no hood & XL - SS no hood

My CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer) has approved a handle name.

Johnny two times.

It seems like every project and thing I do requires 2 X’s to git er’ right.

John

Good boy Tryin’ Brian! Thank you for taking a couple hits for the Gang. Captain America Roger did the same.

I had my call with the vendor for the SMOG attire this morning and have an order form to complete. I will do so today and return it tomorrow for the screen printed items. We have 20 screen printed items at present to order and need to order a minimum of 25. Does any Gang member want a couple more, for prospects, partners, guests, etc.? Future orders must be in bulk, 25 or more at a time, so if you want something else please let me know today. If any member has not ordered, speak now please. There will be a one time set up fee of $75 (total) for screen printed items we can share.

For the embroidered items, this will take more time (maybe a month) as a specific artist is preparing the custom logo. There will be a one time set up fee of $150 (total) which we can share. The embroidery is complicated, will be crafted by an artist and an embroidery machine tech and will be awesome. Large patches are around $125 each and small patches around $36 each. We are modifying the SMOG logo to fit the smaller patches and the hats. The large patches will be what we all agreed on. Please trust me to make the smaller images right.

Regarding payment, I plan to advance the necessary amount and will rely on the Gang members to reimburse me a little later. I think the initial order will be shipped to me for handling and I am OK with that. I will distribute the gear when it arrives.

So, order another garment or two and let’s roll on brothers!

Regards - Easy Ridin’ Jack

John -

Since Brian announced his handle, Tryin’ Brian, two of my earlier suggestions made to him are available. How does Bad Boy John or Road Warrior John fit? The Gang needs one of each.

I did not ask about your “interesting times” as I did not want to pry. Hope all is well.

Jack Burgess, Shangri-La 6047

Jack, it's official. With much input from Janice,  I will be "Tryin Brian"! I will measure for my hat size as almost all hats are too small for me. Congrats on floating the new boat!

Brother John -

I may have just created your Gang handle as referenced above, but you must make the call. So far, we have Easy Ridin’ Jack, Captain America Roger, Honorable Howard, Awesome Arina and Brian Richards is thinkin’ hard about his, which needs to go with his trike. I am suggesting Tryin’ Brian or Three Wheeled Brian, but he is still on the fence. What is your pleasure? Got a nickname you always wanted?

When it comes to hat sizes, I will see ya’ and raise ya’. My new full face helmet is a whopper - 5XXX! I didn’t know they made them that large and laughed when my cycle shop owner said that is what I needed, but SHE was right (THEY usually are).

I will get your attire ordered within a day or so. The screen printed gear should be ready in around two weeks and the embroidered will take around a month.

Good Morning Jack,

Suffice to say I have been hit by the ancient Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times.”

Life has become somewhat, complicated, shall we say thus my delay in replying to you regarding SMOG attire.

Be that as it may I want to order a few things.

1 12” patch for the back of a jacket

1 4” patch for shoulder

1 large LS Tee no hood

1 X-Large LS Tee no hood

1 large SS Tee no hood

1 X-large SS Tee no hood

1 XX large hat. I wear a 7 3/4 fitted baseball cap which is about as big as they get

1 large hat

Thanks for all your hard work.

Congrats on Shangri-La getting out into the sun. Cant wait to see her here in the water.

John

John Midlige and Brian Calvert - Need your orders for SMOG attire - LS T’s with or without hoods for the LS shirts, all poly blend and good SPF protection. Hats, patches, more available soon. And Brian - I can deliver your stuff as far as China in 4-6 weeks as I am doing a yard visit soon for final inspection of 6047 Shangri-La before shipping.

Got it Brian. Hmmmmmmm - if you want me to pick colors for you I will just duplicate what I am buying. It would be cool if we could have some matching shirts and hats for when we get together. I know Roger, Christie, Terry and I are good with that idea. Are you including your partner?

Regarding your handle, I will cogitate on it for you also. I do like Bad Boy Brian and Road Warrior Brian. Also, since you are on a trike now, something like Tryin’ Brian or Three wheeled Brian would work. Let’s keep the wheels turning.

Whatever handle you choose will leave the remaining above possibilities available for others. Haven’t yet asked Howard for his. I was thinking Honorable Howard might fit. Ideas? I will share them with him when we chat.

Thanks Jack,

I best leave the colours to the qualified folks. Will think carefully about the handle. Need to present the right image now that I've reverted back to a tricycle!

Hey Brian -

I will include you in the inaugural order of SMOG attire. Captain America Roger and Christie are gearing up right away also. Do you folks have color preferences for the T-Shirts? The vendor can provide just about anything we want.

BTW, we are working on handles for the gang members, therefore Easy Ridin’ Jack and Captain America Roger were born. Got a handle you like? I was thinking maybe Bad Boy Brian or Road Warrior Brian or something discreet like that. What do you say?

Jack Burgess, Shangri-La 6047

Hello Jack,

I'm in for:
One 12” embroidered patch.
Two large LS T’s with polyester SPF protection without hood.
Two large short sleeves without hoods.
Two large hats.

Thanks for pulling this together.

Our vendor for the SMOG attire and swag had an unfortunate family emergency and has ceased much business activity, necessitating plan B. I have another local company near my home who is excited about working with us. They can produce and supply the 12” and 4” embroidered patches, LS T’s with polyester SPF protection with or without hoods, the same in short sleeves without hoods, polos, hats, bags, windbreakers and more. They work with other biker groups so know the drill. Silkscreen T’s can be ready in about two weeks. We need to order a minimum of 25 garments to kickstart the process. I can order quite a few myself as I am going to buy for Terry and me and family and also some extra T’s to give as gifts to Howard Chen and daughter Arina when I visit the yard again shortly.

Who is on board and what do you think you will want included with the initial order? I need to give them a ballpark estimate to get things started. I am happy to advance the initial fees for design and production of the digital images and will ask for pro rata reimbursement from the FF when the dust settles - should be quite reasonable. Basic style, size and color preference would be appreciated. We can fine tune the order once I give them preliminary information.
