Have any of you changed the shaft seals on a Sleipner Side-Power thruster? There are 2 seals per thruster, one on each side. I have replacement seals that are donut shaped, and the cross section is U-shaped. I'm having trouble removing the old seals. I used a pick to try to pull them out but they started coming apart, and now I can't get the rubber out between the shaft and the shaft casing.
I've attached 2 photos. One is the shaft seal before I attempted to remove it, and the other is after I picked away at the rubber seal. Under the seal is a metal disk. And I'm wondering if that isn't part of the seal.
Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.
